I Feel Like I Live in Darkness
Do you ever feel like you just don’t want to get out of bed in the morning - even on weekends? Are you hopeless, and think nothing will ever work out the way that you want it to? Do you sense emptiness, like something is missing inside? Does your world just seem dark?
If you can relate to this, you are not the only one. Still, it is not normal to feel so dark and empty and hopeless. While everyone has trouble at times, it is normal to be generally happy. So, let’s discuss what is wrong.
First of all, some people attempt to solve this problem by trying to drive out the darkness. They take drugs, drink alcohol, or get into unhealthy relationships because they think they’ll find “light” that way; they think it’s the way to escape the darkness. But, what happens instead is they sink into deeper darkness. Some choose to misbehave, or even commit crimes, because doing so is exciting. It seems to create light. However, it also ends up in deeper darkness.
What you really need to do to escape the darkness is simply turn on the light. One thing that Jesus Christ said nearly 2,000 years ago when he was living on earth - and rightfully so, since he was the Son of God - is, "I am the Light of the World; he who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of Life." If you want to escape the darkness in your soul, just ask Jesus to come into your life and take over. The darkness will leave. Furthermore, you will receive the power that you need to overcome the things in your life that are making you experience hopelessness.
