How Do I Ask Jesus to Come Into My Heart?
If you are ready to ask Jesus to come into your heart, letting him be the one who teaches you, guides you, and has total control of your life, there are three things that must happen:
1. You must admit that you are not perfect.
2. You must believe deep in your heart that Jesus died to take the punishment for the things that you have done wrong, was raised from the dead by God, and has gone to heaven to prepare a place for those who believe in him.
3. You must confess that Jesus Christ is the king and lord of your life, and that you are committed to letting him be in charge.
You do this simply by talking to him. It's what we call prayer.
You just admit to him that you have done the wrong things and are sorry for them, that you believe he died to pay for those wrong things, and that you believe he was raised from the dead and is preparing a place for you in heaven. You also tell him that you want him to be the king of your life, showing you how to live. It always feels good to ask him to forgive you, too, even though he does it anyway when you have this change of heart. If you want, you can pray something like this:
"Lord Jesus, I admit that I am not perfect and have sometimes chosen to do the wrong thing. I'm sorry, and I'm asking you to forgive me. I believe that you died to take the punishment for me, were raised from the dead, and have gone to heaven to prepare a place for me. I confess that you are the Son of God, and I want you to be the king of my life. Please come in and take over. Thank you for forgiving me. Amen."
If you prayed this prayer - or one like it - and you meant it with all of your heart, you are now a member of the family of God. He has forgiven you, has accepted you, has given you His Holy Spirit, and wants you to get to know Him. To know what to do next, click on
